- we hunt the dead

John "Red" Pollard
October 27, 1909 - March 7, 1981
Notre Dame Cemetery - Pawtucket, RI

"Red" Pollard was a jockey who rose from obscurity to ride the now-famous horse Seabiscuit.  He was immortilized by Tobey Maguire in the film named for the horse, who had been deemed tempermental and unruly before meeting Pollard.

The area of Notre Dame Cemetery in which Mr. Pollard rests is very strictly organized.  While this does not lend itself to the almost chaotic beauty of other cemeteries, it does make it much easier to find plots you are looking for.  This one is #953 in Section #8.

Factoid:  "Red" was actually blind in his right eye, a secret he kept from others for fear they would not let him race.
