Charles Goodyear
December 29, 1800 - July 1, 1860
Grove Street Cemetery - New Haven, CT

Charles Goodyear is best known for having invented the process of rubber vulcanization that makes products such as shoes and tires possible.

Grove Street Cemetery is broken down into "blocks" of "roads".  Mr. Goodyear's plot is on Sycamore Avenue and is instantly recognizable by both the low, stone wall surrounding it and the large cross-shaped headstone directly behind and to its right.

And don't miss Eli Whitney and Noah Webster, both also in this cemetery!

Factoid: The Goodyear Tire Company is NOT owned, affiliated with or endorsed by The Goodyear Family.  Charles Goodyear died not only penniless but in debt.
