There aren't quite words enough to express exactly how we feel about Forest Hills Cemetery.

The place is exquisite.  275 acres of what is considered one of the finest cemeteries in the entire United States, Forest Hills is not only an active cemetery but also a public park, arboretum and outdoor museum.

The most amazing thing about Forest Hills, in my opinion, is the fact that it resides in what we thought was a ghetto!  It is the absolutely LAST thing we expected when we arrived.

Forest Hills also houses the future interment site of Kahlil Gibran Jr., son of The Prophet author Kahlil Gibran.

Who we visited here:
E. E. Cummings

I just found out - much to my annoyance - that Eugene O'Neill is also buried at Forest Hills.  Obviously, I'm not annoyed because he's buried there, but because we did not know that when we were there.  Considering how long we spent there, I'm pretty surprised we didn't find him by accident.

At any rate - if you're visiting Forest Hills - DON'T FORGET EUGENE O'NEILL!
